Adult Small Groups -- Stability vs. Growth

There's a new and relevant-to-this-blog article today in the UM Reporter about Adult Small Groups.

http://www.unitedmethodistreporter.com/2013/01/a-fresh-look-at-small-groups/

They're encouraging people to not stay in the same small group (whether Sunday School class or Bible study or whatever) because your needs change.

What do you think? I think that especially in a bigger church having a small group that you're close to over time (so they know about the good and bad things that have happened, not just the recent stuff) is important. That's what makes it feel more like family.
